This project, a second phase of our engagement as part of the ICT4Dem Network in East Africa, sought to explore the extent to which the government of Kenya is using ICTs to provide services to Kenyans around the country. In the course of the research, our team of qualitative researchers travelled from Nairobi, to Nakuru, Kisumu and finally to Mombasa interviewing Kenyans on their experience using ICTs to access government services. One of the key findings was that there is still a huge gap amongst Kenyans when it comes to adopting and accessing ICTs.
As more Kenyans get online it has become paramount to raise awareness about the threats that present themselves to internet users.
By conducting qualitative research focusing on womens experiences online, we are using this data to customise awareness and education resources and campaigns to make the internet safer for minorities especially women and minors.
